Deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar extended

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline to link the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar. The deadline was extended by three months till December 31.

It may be mentioned here that thegovernment has extended the deadline to link the two unique IDs for the seventhtime. The CBDT has issued a notification in this regard.

Earlier, the deadline was September 30. For income tax purposes, it is now compulsory for individuals to link their PAN with Aadhaar.

In 2017, the government had changed the income tax law to mandate that taxpayers quote their Aadhaar number to get a new PAN card and to file income tax returns while existing PAN cardholders were also required to complete the process to link their Aadhaar numbers.
