Farmers’ Bills Passed Amid Ruckus In RS

In a major update, amid the ruckus created by the Opposition MPs today over the agriculture reform Bills, the Bills were passed in the Rajya Sabha and the house has been adjourned till tomorrow at 9 am.

The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Bill Parliament has got the approval.

Minister of agriculture and farmers welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, replying to the oppositions questions, faced criticisms with the opposition MPs raising slogans against the government.

Furthermore, the rule book was torn up by the opposition. The house was also adjourned briefly.

The opposition was demanding that the bills should be sent to a select committee to further discuss them.

The NDA had the numbers to pass the bills in the Lok Sabha last week amid farmer protests and opposition walk-outs.
