Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday launched India's first ever online and centralised National Database on Sexual Offenders (NDSO) in New Delhi.

The database will have a record of the name, photographs, address, fingerprint and other details of convicted sexual offenders.

The NDSO will include all necessary information on arrested and charge-sheeted offenders. However, limited access will be granted to officers after clearance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said that the database will help investigating agencies for speedy trial of the cases.

According to reports, the database will have information of about 4.5 lakh sexual offenders.
