Foreign currency worth Rs 11 crore seized at Kochi Airport

In a major haul, Customs officials on Wednesday morning seized foreign currency worth Rs 11 crore from an Afghan national at Kochi International Airport.

The individual, who has been identified as Yousuf Muhammad Siddique, was on his way to Dubai from Delhi via Kochi. He was found to be in illegal possession of US dollars and Saudi Rial.

It may be mentioned here that this is the first time that foreign currency worth such a huge amount has been seized in the country.

Intelligence Bureau and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence are probing the case.
