IMD Advises Goa Tourists to Stay Away Till Oct 27

The Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) Goaobservatory advised tourists to avoid visiting the coastal state till October27, citing rough weather conditions, said an official.

The coastal state has been put on red alert forThursday as it has been receiving heavy to very heavy showers because of acyclonic depression in the Arabian Sea.

Tourists are advised not to visit the state for thenext four days, from October 24 to October 27 as weather conditions are likely toworsen, said Krishnamurty Padgalwar, Director of IMD, Goa.

Padgalwar said that the depression in the Arabian Sea and its movement towards the east-northeast may cause heavy rainfall in the state.

According to reports, Goa received almost 90 mm ofrainfall on Thursday and the state has recorded 144 percent surpluspost-monsoon showers from October 1 till date.
