Indian coach commits suicide after molestation charge

A 59-year-old Kabbadi coach of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) allegedly committed suicide in a hotel room after being accused of molesting a teenage girl at the training centre, police source said on Tuesday.

In a suicide note addressed to his wife Devika and son Rakesh, Hosamani apologised to them for what he did. He said he was helpless. – Police said.

Hosamani checked into the hotel on October 13 and did not step out of his room for a long time, following which the staff alerted the local police. The Police broke the door and found him hanging.

The alleged incident of molestation took place in the girls' dressing room of the SAI centre on October 9. SAI authorities were informed after the victim told her parents about it.

After the incident, a case had been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him based on victim's complaint.
