Journalist Booked For Sexual Harassment

A 53-year-old journalist, working for a national daily, has been booked for sexual harassment for allegedly sexually harassing his domestic help.

The incident took place on Thursday (July 4) at around 1 am when the 25-year-old domestic help was sleeping in her room at the journalist's house in DLF Phase 3, Gurugram.

The victim worked as a full-time domestic help with the senior journalist.

The woman filed a complained against her employer on Thursday.

Following a complaint, a case under relevant sections, including section 354A (sexual harassment), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the journalist.

The accused has not been arrested yet.

Assistant commissioner of police (DLF) Karan Goel said that the victim, a native of Odisha, said, in her complaint, that she received a phone call from the accused's driver at around 1 am who asked her to open the main door of the house.

"It was then the journalist barged into her room naked and started touching her inappropriately. The victim then locked herself in a bathroom and managed to escape two hours later. She took refuge at a friend's place in the same society. She approached the police the next day," the police informed.
