Karnataka: SC orders rebel MLAs to resign today

The Supreme Court on Thursday has asked 10 rebel MLAs of Congress and JD(S) in Karnataka to meet the Assembly Speaker at 6 PM today and submit their resignations.

The apexcourt also directed the Speaker to take a final decision on the issue todayitself. The SC will hear the decision of the Speaker tomorrow (July 12).

Meanwhile, the court has further ordered DGP of Karnataka to provide protection to the MLAs. "Security would be provided to the MLAs," said the SC bench.

It maybe mentioned here that in a plea, the rebel MLAs had alleged that the KarnatakaAssembly Speaker was not accepting their resignations deliberately.
