In efforts to save crores of rupees, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Thursday, said that efforts will be taken up to make the House paperless.

The speaker said that as part of the initiative, members would have an option to have their documents either in digital or in paper form.

It was during the Zero Hour that Birla told members that less paper should be used as it would also help in preserving trees.

The Lok Sabha should be known as a paperless House as crores of rupees are spent on printing papers, he added.

However, lauding the speaker's objective, TMC member Kalyan Banerjee stated that it should be ensured that Wi-Fi is available at all time.

Further, the Speaker informed that a system is being implemented in which the name, party and constituency along with allotted time would be displayed on the screen in the House, when they are speaking.
