Manipur: Atleast 20 Congress Workers Allegedly Thrash Journalist

A group of at least 20 Congress workers has allegedly thrashed a Manipur journalist working for a vernacular daily mercilessly.

As per reports, the incident of the assault occurred in Thoubal district at his residence in the presence of his family members on Sunday morning. The survivor journalist has been identified as one Elangbam Rameshwar, who is a correspondent with Naharolgi Thoudang, a Manipuri daily published from Imphal. Rameshwar is also the vice-president of the Thoubal District Journalists' Union.

Reports have mentioned that the perpetrators belonged to the Block Congress of the Heirok constituency.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been registered with the local police, and an investigation is underway. However, as of Sunday night, no one has been detained or arrested in this connection.
