Manohar Parrikar cremated with full state honours

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was cremated with state honours on Monday at Panaji's Miramar beach, where thousands gathered to mourn his passing.His son Utpal lit the funeral pyre.

Earlier, a pall of gloom descended on the BJP office and hundreds of Parrikar supporters turned emotional when his mortal remains, wrapped in the tricolour, were brought there. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also met Parrikar's family members.

Goa's first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar was also cremated at the Miramar beach, a state BJP spokesperson said.
