Mumbai 26/11 Attack: CM Fadnavis Pays Tribute

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday paidfloral tributes to those who laid down their lives while fighting Pakistaniterrorists who had attacked Mumbai on this day 11 years ago.

The chief minister was among the dignitaries who paid homage atthe 26/11 police memorial site at Mumbai Police Gymkhana in South Mumbai.

Paying tribute CM Fadnavis said, "I pay homage to the bravepolicemen who fought for Mumbai's safety and laid down their lives for us on26/11. We are proud of them and we will strive hard for the safety and securityof our state."

But conspicuous by his absence was deputy chief minister AjitPawar as he stayed away from the only commemorative event held by thegovernment to mark the attack anniversary. Pawar had also not taken charge asdeputy chief minister on Monday, deciding to stay at his Churchgate residenceeven as Fadnavis got down to work.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari also paid tributes to the martyrs.Other than Koshyari and Fadnavis, Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta, Director Generalof Police Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve andfamily members of the policemen who lost their lives during the attacks werealso present during the ceremony.
