Mumbai Rains: 30 Flights Cancelled, 118 Delayed

Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were affected for the second day with 30 flights being cancelled and 118 others have been delayed due to the heavy rains in Mumbai on Thursday.

14incoming and 16 outbound flights were cancelled today as per a liveflight-tracking website. In addition, 118 flights were delayed, including 86 departures.

In abrief statement, Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (MIAL) said that operationsare normal. The statement further reads as, "IndiGo has reported cancellations.Please contact the airlines for further information."

IndiGosuspended operations due to paucity of manpower on Wednesday night, accordingto sources.

The Airlinesin a statement on Thursday said that operations had resumed as per theschedule. The statement said, "There are few cancellations to stabilize theoperations. Therefore, we request the passengers to check the status of theirflight before proceeding for the airport. All affected passengers are being accommodatedon alternate flights."

The operationsat the country's second busiest airport had witnessed heavy disruptions onWednesday as rains crippled the city.

Around20 flights, most of them of IndiGo were cancelled on Wednesday and 455 flightswere delayed due to the incessant rain.
