Nana Patole elected Maharashtra Assembly Speaker

Congress MLA Nana Patolehas been elected as the Speaker of the Maharashtra assembly on Monday. He waselected unopposed after BJP withdrew its candidate for the post on Sunday.

It may be mentioned herethat Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray led Maharasthra Vikas Aghadi on Sunday wonthe vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly.

After Maharashtra BJPchief Chandrakant Patil announced their decision to take back the nomination ofKisan Kathore for the Assembly Speaker, pro tem Speaker formally announcedPatole's election as the Speaker in the House.

"Nana Patole has also comefrom a farmer family and I know your behavior very well. You will be veryconfident and believes injustice, and I am sure you will give justice toeveryone," Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said.
