No Problem with NRC, Nothing to Worry: Sheikh Hasina

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that she was satisfied with the assurance made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that her country should not be perturbed over the National Register of Citizens' (NRC) being implemented in Assam.

Hasina is inDelhi to attend the India Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum and isscheduled to meet PM Modi on Saturday to hold bilateral talks.

According toreport, Bangladesh envoy Syed Muazzem Ali, while speaking about the NRC saidthat the Bangladesh PM said she doesn't see a problem with the exercise. "I hada talk with PM Modi. Everything is okay," Hasina was quoted as saying.

Her remarkscome a week after she met Modi in New York and said that the NRC has become amatter of 'great concern' for Bangladeshis. Modi assured his Bangladeshicounterpart and said that there is nothing to be worried about since the twocountries shared good relations.

Addressingthe World Economic Forum's summit, Hasina said that Bangladesh can serve as theeconomic hub for the sub-region. "Beyond our own 162 million people, Bangladeshcan be the connecting landmass to a combined market of nearly 3 billion people."
