PM Modi inaugurates world’s tallest statue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated the world's tallest statue, the "Statue of Unity", to the nation, at Kevadiya in Narmada district of Gujarat. The 182 metre (597 foot) statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was dedicated to the nation on his 143rd birth anniversary.

At the launch ceremony, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries poured soil and Narmada water into a Kalash to mark the dedication of the "Statue of Unity" to the nation. The Prime Minister pressed a lever to commence a "Virtual Abhishek" of the statue. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also addressed a gathering. PM Modi reached Gujarat on Tuesday night.
