PM to launch BJP membership drive today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to kick start Bharatiya Janata Party's membership drive from his Parliamentary constituency Varanasi today.

The PM will address almost 5,000 party workers at Deendayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Centre in Bada Lalpur.

Today is also the birth anniversary of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP Working President JP Nadda and Head of the membership drive Shivraj Singh Chauhan will also be present in the function.

According to reports, Modi will also launch a plantation drive today.

The Prime Minister will also unveil a statue of former PM Lal Bahadur Shashtri, after reaching Varanasi's Babatpur airport, following which he will move to Harahua at Panch Kosi Marg and launch the plantation drive Anand Kanan by planting a sapling.

The BJP membership drive reportedly targets to make 36 lakh new members in the state.

Security has been tightened ahead the PM's visit.
