A mega roadshow headed by newly appointed Congress's general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress president Rahul Gandhi kicked off on Monday in Lucknow.

Priyanka and Rahul are accompanied Jyotiraditya Scindia and other Congress leaders. Raj Babbar, Rajeev Shukla, RPN Singh, Jitin Prasada and Harish Rawat were also seen accompanying  Priyanka and Rahul.

Stretching over 12 kms from the airport to Nehru Bhawan, the rally holds significance as Uttar Pradesh sends 80 MP's to Lok Sabha.

It is also Priyanka Gandhi's first road in Lucknow after joining as Congress's general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East).

In Eastern Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpour and Phulpur Constituencies, the poll result for Congress has been disastrous in the last two elections.

As a grand welcome for the top three Congress leaders, a 30-kilometer long roadshow is also being planned in Lucknow through some of the most congested areas of the city.

In the next three days Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will conduct daily meetings over specific constituencies of the 40-odd Lok Sabha seats which fall under her purview. Sources say instead of returning to Delhi after her Lucknow visit, she may tour eastern Uttar Pradesh.
