SC lifts life ban on S Sreesanth

Pratidin Bureau

The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the order by Board of Control of Cricket in India's (BCCI) disciplinary committee that imposed a life ban on former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth. Setting aside the order on the ban, the apex court asked the disciplinary committee to reconsider the quantum of punishment within three months.

The ban on Sreesanth was imposed by BCCI for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. The bench comprising justices Ashok Bhushan and KM Joseph also said that the cricketer would get the opportunity of being heard by the disciplinary committee.

Earlier, Sreesanth has challenged the decision of Kerala High Court that had restored the life ban by BCCI imposed on him.
