Sidhu Meets Rahul Gandhi

Punjab minister and Congress leader NavjotSingh Sidhu on Monday met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.

Sidhu updated Gandhi of the "situation" inPunjab days after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh divested him of the crucialLocal Government department and gave the Power and New and Renewable EnergySources portfolio in a cabinet reshuffle on Thursday.

Sidhu tweeted,"Met the Congress President,handed him my letter, informed him of the situation!"

He also posted a picture on twitter withRahulGandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior leaderAhmed Patel.

When the chief minister had blamed Sidhu's"inept handling" of the local government department for the "poor performance"of the Congress in the urban areas in the Lok Sabha polls, tension betweenSingh and Sidhu had come out open. He also added that urban votebank was thebackbone of the Congress party in Punjab but Sidhu's failure had created a badimpact upon the party.

Sidhu was left out of eight consultativegroups formed by the chief minister on Saturday to expedite implementation of thestate government's schemes after the ministry snub.
