Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday held her first pre-budget consultation meeting with representatives of farm bodies in New Delhi.

Views of different agriculture organisations and farm economists were sought by Sitharaman to know ways for boosting the farm sector growth and double the farmers' income.

The Finance Minister, later on the day, will seek views of industry bodies and trade association on various issues, including steps to boost FDI inflows and industrial productivity.

It may be mentioned here that Sitharaman will present her first budget next month on the 5th.
