Soldier martyred, 4 terrorists shot dead in J&K encounter

An army soldier was martyred and four unidentified terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Shopian encounter ended after a fierce gunfight between militants and a joint team of forces since midnight. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.

Security sources said, based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Nadigam area, the forces had launched a search operation in the wee hours today.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired on the forces, who retaliated. There was a ceasefire violation by Pakistan at LOC in Poonch sector.
