Sunday’s storm kills 69 people across India

Death toll from yesterday's dust storm, rain and lightning has reached 69. Thirty eight people were killed in Uttar Pradesh, 12 in West Bengal, 13 in Andhra Pradesh, 4 in Bihar and two death were reported in the national capital.

In Uttar Pradesh, deaths have been reported from several districts including Bareilly, Saharanpur, Etawah, Aligarh, Mirzapur and states' NCR region. Our correspondent reports that fifty people have been injured in several districts.

In Andhra Pradesh, deaths reported from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Kadapa districts.

In Bihar, four people were killed in hailstorm late last night. Two people lost their lives in Chapra while one each in Patna and Saharsa. A large number of crops have been damaged. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has instructed officials to pay ex-gratia to the affected families. He also instructed to assess the damage caused by the hailstorm.
