Sushant Singh Rajput Case: SC Orders CBI Probe

Pratidin Bureau

The Supreme Court on Wednesday orders the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The top court asked Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence collected so far into the case to CBI.

In a hearing on Wednesday, the top court also said that the Bihar government had the right to refer the Patna FIR lodged by Rajput's father to CBI.

It also said that the CBI will be competent enough to probe not only Patna FIR but any other FIR related to Rajput's death case.

"FIR registered in Patna was lawful. The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order," says the top court.

SC ensured that there was no confusion about CBI being the sole authority to probe the mystery behind Rajput's suicidal death and that no other state police could interfere with it.

The court also said that since Bihar police registered a full-fledged FIR which already stands referred to CBI, the central agency should probe the case.
