Tripura: BJP Leader Rajib Banerjee Rejoins TMC

Pratidin Bureau

Former BJP leader Rajib Banerjee on Sunday joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during public meeting of party's general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Tripura.

Earlier this month, Banerjee was inducted in the national executive committee of the BJP. He was a minister in Mamata Banerjee led government in Kolkata.

"I realised that I cannot accept the politics of hatred and divisive ideology propagated by BJP. I cannot accept the anti-people policies of the BJP," he said.

He also said that he is sorry for his decision to join the BJP earlier this month.

"I will work under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee," he further added.

He had contested the West Bengal polls as a BJP candidate from Domjur constituency but lost to a TMC candidate.

This comes amidst many BJP leaders like Babul Supriyo defecting to TMC in West Bengal.
