Veteran Communist Leader Roza Deshpande Passes Away

Veteran communist leader and former member of Parliament Roza Deshpande died on Saturday afternoon due to ailments and advanced age at Dadar in her residence in Mumbai.

Deshpande, 92, was admitted in hospital recently but was discharged and was at her home.

Daughter of communist stalwart Shripad Dange, who was a well known trade union leader, Deshhpande learnt her first ropes in politics from her father. She played a pivotal role in the communist movement in India.

The former MP from Mumbai also played a pivotal part in the Samyukta Maharashtra Andolan
