Railways to do away with 11 thousand 40 posts

Pratidin Bureau

In a recent move, Indian Railways has planned to drop 11 thousand 40 posts, which has stirred a lot of controversy.

This information came into light when the Indian Railway Board Executive Director Vikas Arya had issued a notice to General Managers of the 15 zones of railways, on June 11.

At a time when AASU along with several other organisations had demanded full reservation for the locals in various posts in the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR), at the same time Railway Board has decided to drop 550 posts in this zone.

There are almost three lakh vacancies in Railways. In an instance when instead of filling up those posts, railways has decided to drop them, railway employees are seen furiously reacting to it. These employees are of the opinion that dismissing these empty posts will only pose as a threat to those travelling in trains.
