Asia Cup – India restricts Pakistan to 162

Pratidin Bureau

Indian bowlers made easy work of the inexperienced Pakistan batting line up as they bundled out their neighbours for a mere score of 162 in 43.1 overs in the final group A match of the Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai today.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan had a disastrous start as Bhuveneshwar Kumar sent both the openers packing with the team score at just 3 runs.

However, Babar Azam (47) and seasoned player Shoaib Malik (43) steadied the Pakistani innings with a 82-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.

But a googly from chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav rattled Azam's wicket following which the Pakistani batsmen kept throwing away their wickets at regular intervals as Indian bowlers showed patience and bowled tight overs to keep pressure on the Pakistan innings.

Part time bowler Kedar Jadhav made a mockery of the Pakistani batting as he picked up 3 wickets for just 23 runs in his nine overs to keep the score in check in the final Asia Cup group matches for both the teams.

Needing just 163 runs to win from 50 overs, this should not be tough task for the Indians with the amount of depth in their batting line up.

Brief Scores : Pakistan – 162 all out ( Babar Azam 47, Shoaib Malik 43, Kedar Jadhav 3/23, Bhuveneshwar Kumar 3/15)
