Indian clinched five medals on Day 12 of Asian Games 2018 to take their medal tally to 59

Sprinter  Jinson Johnson clocked 3:44.72sec to claim a gold medal in the men's 1500m event.

The Indian women's quartet of Hima Das, M R Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Velluva Koroth ran 3 minute and 28.72 seconds to claim the gold. This was India's 4x400m women's relay team's fifth consecutive gold medal in the Asian Games.

India's 4x400m men's relay team consisting quartet of Kunhu Muhammed, Dharunn Ayyasamy, Mohd. Anas and Arokia Rajiv clocked 3:01.85 to finish behind Qatar and won silver.

PU Chitra who entered into the race as an Asian leader this season had to settle for a bronze with a timing of 4 minute and 12.56 seconds in the women's 1500m race.

35-year-old Seema  Punia cleared a best distance of 62.26m, her best in six years, but that was just enough for a bronze medal.

India now have 59 medals including 13 gold, 21 silver and 25 bronze. India also surpassed  its medal tally (57) of 2014 Incheon Games in the process.
