Asian Games update : Day 6 review

On day 6 of the ongoing Asian Games, India enjoyed its best medal haul with seven medals in a day. In Rowing, the  team comprising of Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh clocked 6:17.13 to win gold in men's quadruple sculls.

Sawarn Singh, senior most member of the gold-winning quadruple sculls team, "Yesterday we had a bad day but soldiers never give up. I told my teammates that we will go for the gold and we will give it all. It was about karo ya maro (do or die). And we did it".

In men's tennis doubles ,Indians came out trumps 6-3 6-4 in 52 minutes to claim the men's doubles top prize, which has now gone to India for a fifth time.

Bopanna said ,"This is really special for me. This medal especially goes to the people of Coorg. They are going through tough times (after the floods) and in Kerala also. Hope this can cheer them up,"

In men's Tennis Singles semi-final Gunneswaran lost 2-6, 2-6 against Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin to settle for the bronze.

In Kabbadi ,the Indian Women's team was defeated by Iran and had to settle for silver.

In 10m air pistol  Heena Sidhu's won bronze. In squash Dipika Pallikal, Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal advanced to respective singles semifinals .

At the end of the day six, India stood ninth in the Asian Games 2018 Medal Table with the overall tally of six gold, five silver and 14 bronze medals.
