Bengaluru FC spoil NEUFC’s party with injury time equalizer

Pratidin Bureau

In a match that raised several question marks on the quality of the referee's decision making, Bengaluru FC came from a goal behind to draw level and salvage a point in Guwahati. Both sides began really well and looked to dominate the midfield with proper build up play.

NorthEast United FC did not look in any sort of discomfort playing against a top level side like Bengaluru FC and often pressed them higher up the field. Both the sides went into the break with a 0-0 scoreline.

In the 64th minute of the game, NorthEast United's playmaker Federico Gallego found his way past Bengaluru defenses and managed to beat goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to help his side go up 1-0. The home side looked just on course to cross the finishing line, however Bengaluru FC fought back with real valor in search of an equalizer. Inside the injury time, an acrobatic overhead kick by Chencho Gyeltshen shattered the United nets as Bengaluru FC managed to make it all square and keep their unbeaten string intact.

NorthEast United will take on ATK at home on Friday.
