CSK defeats RCB in IPL opener

In the opening match of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Saturday.

Losing the toss RCB had to bat firs. The team scored 70 runs in 17.1 overs. Parthiv Patel was the highest scorer with 29 off 35 balls.

Harbhajan Singh (3/20 in 4 overs), Imran Tahir (3/9 in 3 overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/15 in 4 overs) shared the wickets. Dwayne Bravo also chipped in with a wicket.

On the other hand, CSK scored the runs in 17.4 overs and Ambati Rayudu scored the highest runs of 28.

Brief Scores: RCB 70 in 17.1 overs (Parthiv Patel 29 off 35 balls, Harbhajan Singh 3/15, Imran Tahir 3/9). CSK 71/3 in 17.4 overs (Ambati Rayudu 28 off 41 balls).
