FIFA WC day 2: Spain to take on Portugal in one of the clashes of the tournament

Pratidin Bureau

On the second day of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, three matches are scheduled for today. In the first match, Egypt will clash against Uruguay in Group A at 5.30 PM (IST) at Ekaterinburg Arena. For this match, all eyes will be on Egypt's Mohammad Salah and Uruguay's Luiz Suarez.

In the two Group B encounters later, Morocco will take on Iran at the Saint Petersburg Stadium in St. Petersburg at 8.30 PM, while Spain will face Portugal at the Fisht Stadium in Sochi from 11.30 PM.

The Spain versus Portugal clash is considered as one the best matches one will get to witness in the group stages this World Cup.

Portugal, 2016 European champions, has lost one competitive match since September 2014 while Spain is unbeaten in 20 games. All eyes will be on talismanic Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo who would want to continue his European and Club form from Real Madrid.

Portugal and Spain last clashed against each other in a World Cup match way back in 2010. Spain won the pre-quarter match by 1-0 goals.
