India squad for Asia Cup announced; Kohli rested

BCCI selectors today announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE from September 15, with a few players making a comeback to the ODI team while few regulars misses out.

While regular skipper Virat Kohli has been rested owing to the workload over the long gone season and considering the upcoming Australia tour, his deputy Rohit Sharma will be leading the 16-member team in the tournament.

While Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav makes a comeback into the team, uncapped 20-year old bowler from Rajasthan Khaleel Ahmed gets a surprise look in following a series of good performances for India A.

However, Siddarth Kaul, Umesh Yadav, Sreyas Iyer and Suresh Raina, who were part of the limited overs squad in England, misses out from the Asia Cup squad.

India will start its campaign on September 18.

SQUAD: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan (VC), K L Rahul, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur and Khaleel Ahmed.
