Messi banned from international football

Barcelonastar footballer Lionel Messi has been banned from playing internationalfootball. Messi has been banned from playing for Argentina for three months.

Accordingto reports, South American football body CONMEBOL suspended Messi frominternational matches due to accusations of corruption he made at Copa América2019 last month.

CONMEBOLreportedly also handed Messi a fine of $50,000 (Rs. 35 lakh) for his comments after Argentina's 2-1 victory against Chile. Itmay be mentioned here that Messi was sent off in the match for scuffle withGary Medel.

However, neither Messi nor Argentina's footballassociation have made any comments about CONMEBOL's decision.
