Pratidin Bureau

Two Northeastern sides will be in action in the I-League 2018-19 on Sunday as NEROCA play at home against defending champions Minerva Punjab while youth-filled Shillong Lajong travel to Kolkata to face Mohun Bagan.

In the early afternoon game at 2 P.M., Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal will host the two sides that finished winners and runners-up last season. NEROCA are in the fourth place with 14 points from eight games and a win would help them catapult up to second spot just behind leaders Chennai City. As for Minerva who have 12 points in 9 outings, a win would sent them from seventh to number three. Homeside NEROCA are back after a good week break, while Minerva would play their third game in 7 days.

In the second fixture, Kolkata Giants Mohun Bagan will lock horns against young blood of Shillong Lajong in the YBK Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. The Meghalaya side with an all Indian roster will have a mountain to climb after their poor start to the season this time having suffered six losses in 8 games till now. Mohun Bagan would like to see this as an opportunity to climb up the table into the Top 4 tomorrow. The match begins at 5 P.M.
