NEUFC ready for stern test against high-flying Bengaluru FC

Pratidin Bureau

League leaders Bengaluru FC lock horns against second-placed side NorthEast United FC in Guwahati on Wednesday evening. For the home side, this battle will be a test of their might and grit against a real tough opponent who has been dominant in Indian football for the past few seasons. Specially, the presence of Indian captain Sunil Chhetri alongside the likes of Udanta Singh, Rahul Bheke and goalie Gurpreet Singh Sandhu makes the visitors a force to reckon with.

Bengaluru are the only unbeaten side in the ISL this season having won seven of their eight games and come to Guwahati on the back of a 6-game winning streak. Coach Carles Cuadrat will definitely eye yet another win on Wednesday against a team that has been renovated and refurbished by Dutch tactician Eelco Schattorie. NEUFC have never been to play-offs and hopes to break the duck this time around.

The Highlanders have managed only one win and two draws out of their 4 home games played so far and would like to give a tough fight against the Bengaluru side that definitely starts as favourites. However coach Schattorie looks adamant to continue developing his side after having a brilliant start to the season. NEUFC skipper and forward Bartholomew Ogbeche who has 8 goals from 9 games will definitely aim to break the best defense in the league.
