Indian Super League's Guwahati-based team NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of their newest overseas recruit ahead of the remainder of the 5th season. The club made the announcement via its social media pages early on 18 January 2019, Friday.

Panagiotis Triadis, a German-born Greek professional attacking midfielder has joined the Highlanders on a direct transfer in this Winter Transfer window from Apollon Smyrnis Football Club which plays in the Super League Greece, the top tier football league in Greece. This also marks the first direct transfer between the Greek Super League and an ISL side.

The 26-year old midfielder has represented the German national team from U15 to U17 levels and Greece national team for the U19 level. Prior to this move, Triadis had plied his trade with SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Xanthi FC and Apollon Smyrnis FC and will bring in a wealth of experience to reinforce NorthEast United's attacking prowess for the current season.

Triadis joins the side after Ghanian midfielder Augustine Okrah had to be ruled out for the rest of the season due to sustaining an injury after making four appearances as a substitute. NorthEast United are currently among the top four teams in the regular season with 20 points from 12 matches and are set to resume their 2018-19 ISL campaign with a clash against Chennaiyin FC on Saturday, January 26.
