About 10 days after the final match of the FIFA World Cup, the football federation has finally announced the best goal of the season. French team's Benjamin Pavard's strike against Argentina in the 57th minute of the match has been voted the best goal of the tournament.

Pavard, following the deceleration, achieves an unique feat. The French right back now becomes the first European player to win Goal of the Tournament (FIFA World Cup) accolade since the title's creation in 2006.

In an online poll hosted by FIFA's official website, over three million fans cast their votes and declared the 22-year-old Frenchman's goal as the most outstanding one of the series. Pavard had scored the 'Best Goal' when he ran onto a left-wing cross from Lucas Hernandez and sent a right-footed half-volley spinning into the top corner to level eventual champions France's last-16 tie with Argentina at 2-2.

Colombian Juan Quintero's free kick against Japan was voted the second best while Luka Modric's long-range strike against Croatia was the third best.

The FIFA World Cup 2018 had offered the fans options from the 169 goals from 64 matches.
