Russia refuses to recognise Cricket as Sport

TheRussian Sports Ministry has refused to officially recognise cricket as a sport.According to reports, the Russian Sports Ministry has refused to grat sportstatus to the game due to a lack of regional affiliations in the country.

However,Moscow Cricket Federation member Aleskandr Sokorin said the refusal was due toerrors in its application for inclusion on the ministry's register. "This timewe didn't fully prepare the documents, there were some technical issues. Weneed to open more regional affiliations. Right now there are around 20, and weneed 48," said Sokorin.

Onthe other hand, footgolf, sports yoga, model plane flying, ice stock sport andkorfball are among the disciplines that Russia has granted sports status.
