Facebook soon to launch dating feature, begins testing project

Pratidin Bureau

In order to compete with mobile dating apps like Tinder and Bumble, Facebook has begun testing its dating project internally with employees.

The much anticipated Facebook's dating feature is now in beta mode which would soon enable users to have a parallel world within the social network.

According to reports, Facebook Dating is meant to be a separate profile and users' Facebook friends will not see the dating profile.

An independent app researcher Jane Manchun Wong found evidence of the dating feature testing and posted it on Twitter, reported The Verge on Friday.

Wong tweeted, "Facebook is internally testing Facebook Dating. I can't go past the signup screen because they are not activating all non-employee Dating profiles because, well, it's 'pre-launch'"

The new dating tool will be optional and it won't make the dating profile public unless you opt-in to do so.

Apparently, Facebook has asked employees to use fake data for their dating profiles and plans to delete all data before the public launch, said the report.
