India’s mobile subscriber base crosses over 1 billion: COAI report

According to a new report by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), India's telecom subscriber base of private operators has reached a total of 1.035 billion users in March 2018.

With the total subscriber base reaching 304.9 million, Bharti Airtel continues to lead the list of highest number of subscribers in the country. The telecom operator added another 8,402,064 subscribers in March 2018.

Vodafone India sits in the second position with with 222.69 million subscribers by March end 2018, adding 5,637,695 customers in the month. Idea Cellular added the maximum number of subscribers in March 2018 by adding 9.14 million to bring its total subscribers to 211.2 million.

With a total of 89.47 million mobile customers, the UP (East) telecom circle remained at the top with a total of 89.47 million subscribers followed by Maharashtra with a total of 83.61 million mobile subscribers.
