People can now apply for passport in India through app

Pratidin Bureau

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday launched the Mobile Passport Application on the occasion of Passport Seva Divas in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Sushma Swaraj said that through Passport Seva app, people can apply for a passport from any part of the country. "Police verification will be done on the address, provided by the applicant on the app" she added.

She also informed that the passport will be dispatched to the same address.

Swaraj has termed the app as another step towards simplification of passport service to the people of India.

The app provides information on various steps involved to obtain a passport related service and where to call in case of queries or concerns.

The users are able to search for a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or District Passport Cell (DPC) through the app.
