AASU calls NH blockade across Assam today

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) has called a National Highway Blockade across Assam on Tuesday protesting against the alleged assault on its activists by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at Nalbari police station on 27 January and also pelting stones at them. The highway blockade programme will be staged from 12 pm to 1 pm for one hour.

Addressing a press conference , AASU's chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya  condemned  the incident and referred it as BJP's hooliganism and also questioned how the BJP workers could do such an act. He also cautioned BJP that they will have to face the consequences now.

Taking a jibe at Nalbari Police the chief adviser said that they are working as BJP's agent.

North East Students' Organisation (NESO) chairman Samuel Jerwa representatives of various other ethnic organizations including All Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association, All Moran Students' Union who also took part at the press conference  condemned the incident.
