Afghanistan: 12 Dead, Over 100 Injured In Car Bomb Attack

Atleast 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 were wounded on Sunday after a car bomb targeting an Afghan police headquarters exploded in Feroz Koh area of Ghor province.

According to Ministry of Interior, the car bomb detonated in front of Ghor police headquarters at about 11:00 am.

"The terrorists detonated an explosives-filled car… as a result 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 people were wounded," it said.

A health official said victims also included members of security forces.

 "The explosion was very powerful", said Governor of Ghor Aref Abir , adding that the blast damaged nearby buildings handling affairs for women and the disabled.

No group has claimed responsibility, but fighting between the Taliban and government has surged in recent weeks.
