China: 4 Killed, 47 Injured In Restaurant Gas Explosion

At least four persons were killed and 47 have been injured in a gas explosion in a restaurant in Shenyang city of China's Liaoning Province, local media reported on Thursday.

Officials are investigating the cause of the blast, which happened at around 8:20 a.m, China State affiliated CGTN report stated. Moreover, over 100 firefighters were mobilised for the rescue operation.  

According to Global Times, the injured have all been taken to hospital and further investigation is underway.

As per video footage that has emerged on social media appearing to show the aftermath of the deadly blast that ripped through the building today morning.

It shows a street that has been filled with rubble and a building.

Media reports citing multiple sources said construction works on the gas pipeline were carried out earlier in the area. The gas company confirmed that construction work took place the previous night. It is not yet clear whether this was connected to the explosion.
