Arif Alvi sworn in as 13th President of Pakistan

Dr. Arif Alvi was today sworn in as the 13th President of Pakistan at a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Sadr in Islamabad.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar administered the oath to Alvi.

Top civilian and military officials, along with other well-known personalities and foreign officials attended the ceremony.

Arif Alvi won the presidential election last Tuesday by securing 352 votes in the electoral college of National and Provincial Assemblies and the Senate.

A senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader, Alvi was elected to the National Assembly from Karachi's NA-247 constituency during the July 25 polls.
