Have you ever heard of an aircraft being stolen. Here it is. An employee of an airline, stole the aircraft last night near Seattle and tried to take off only to crash minutes later in an island.

The bizarre incident took place on Friday night Washington time, as the mechanic stole the aircraft from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The airport ATR was baffled as the aircraft took off without authorization and without passengers. The ATR found a carefree man in control and encouraged him to land.

The plane went down on Ketron Island, which is about 40 miles southwest of the airport, the sheriff's office said. It is not sure whether the mechanic survived or not

The mechanic has only been identified as a 29-year-old man from Pierce County, and it is believed the mechanic's lack of flying skills led to the crash. The aircraft belongs to Alaskan Airline.

The plane was a Horizon Air Q400, according to a statement from Horizon's partner airline Alaska Airlines. It crashed on the south of Ketron Island, near a military facility.
