In the run-up to the 11th International Day of Yoga, to be observed on June 21, 2025, a special yoga session was organised on Tuesday at the Pramod Talukdar Memorial Old Age Home in Beltola, Guwahati. The initiative was led by Dr. Amal Ch. Kataki, Director of Health Education and Research at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya.
The session was conducted by renowned Yoga Therapist and Chairman of Yogesvara Sansthan, Mr. Dibya Jyoti Deka. Designed specifically for the elderly residents of the home, the session introduced the concept of Pancha Kosha, the five layers of the self, while emphasising the human body as a divine instrument. The practices focused on improving mobility, enhancing mental tranquillity, and fostering holistic well-being.
In a generous gesture, Mr. Deka assured the residents that regular online yoga sessions will be made available free of cost through Yoga Miracle, a dedicated unit of Yogesvara Sansthan. The sessions aim to support the residents’ continued physical and emotional health.
The initiative reflected the true spirit of International Yoga Day, promoting awareness of yoga's transformative potential and advocating for health, harmony, and dignity in ageing.
