Assam Influencer Alleges Assault, Police Abuse in FIR Shockwave
In a serious allegation that has sent shockwaves through the influencer and digital creator community, Assam-based Instagram influencer Bicky Goria has filed an FIR alleging criminal assault, wrongful confinement, attempted murder, defamation, and police misconduct in Guwahati.
Goria, a resident of Kachari Line, Ward No. 6, Amguri, in Assam’s Sivasagar district, claimed that his life is under threat following a brutal assault and wrongful detention during a recent visit to the city.
In his formal complaint submitted to the police, Goria stated that he was contacted a few days ago by one Rahul, who invited him to promote Karma Homestay, located at Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Road, Bormotoria, Guwahati. Goria mentioned that he had promoted the same homestay earlier as well and arrived in Guwahati on June 20 following the invitation.
According to the FIR, on the night of June 22 at around 11:00 PM, Rahul picked him up from Ganeshguri in a car along with three others. Goria alleges that he was locked inside the vehicle, physically assaulted en route to Six Mile, and then dragged out and beaten with sticks on the street. As a crowd began to gather, the attackers allegedly falsely accused him of being a drug addict, mobile thief, and claimed that he owed them money, an attempt, Goria believes, to defame and discredit him publicly.
What followed was even more disturbing. The influencer was reportedly forcibly taken to the Dispur Police Station at around 1:00 AM. Goria claims that when he tried to explain his side of the story, no one listened. Instead, a police officer in civilian clothes allegedly beat him with sticks and locked him up without food or water. He was released only the following day at 1:00 PM.
Goria suspects collusion between his attackers and the police, as he allegedly witnessed them engaging in friendly conversations at the police station.
“I have video footage that clearly shows how I was assaulted and nearly killed. I was also threatened with death if I didn’t leave Guwahati immediately,” Goria stated in his complaint. He further claimed that he comes from a financially weak background and is now living under constant fear for his life.
He has urged authorities to register a case under appropriate sections, including wrongful confinement, criminal assault, attempt to murder, defamation, criminal intimidation, and misuse of power by police. He has also requested immediate protection to ensure his safety.
The incident has sparked concern on social media platforms, with calls for a fair investigation and accountability from both law enforcement and civil society. Goria has submitted video evidence to support his claims and is seeking urgent intervention to ensure justice.
